What You’ll DoAs the Principal Application Engineer (Trident Engineer) for the Enterprise CI & CD Pipeline team, you will drive how Discover uses CI & CD to deliver applications to production in an agile fashion. The Trident Core team is tasked with the creation of an enterprise-grade Continuous Delivery pipeline using multiple industry-standard CI/CD tools that can deliver to legacy and cloud platforms iteratively without compromising on quality or security.Uses a vast repertoire of delivering high-impact software solutions to work intuitively. If something breaks, you know where to look. Typically does the tough parts – e.g. (re)design and spends more time documenting than coding. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.How You’ll Do ItThis role requires working with engineering and software delivery teams, and subject matter experts to understand pipeline requirements and communicate newly curated patterns.Collaborate with internal agile teams and product owners to help ensure end-to-end quality.Enable DevOps by moving code from Dev/Test to Staging, canary, performance, and Production.On-board, train, and support developers from source control through build automation, merge resolution, CI, test automation, deployment based on tools usage and policies, standards.Build code delivery pipelines that bake in quality and security and automate everything that can be done around software delivery.Add robust monitoring, alerting, and logging, and automate triage activities as much as possible.Help project teams build applications that are reliable and meet performance metrics.Bring a software engineering mindset to infrastructure creation and management while applying the best operational views to ensure security, scalability, and compliance.Develop policies, standards, guidelines, governance, and related guidance for both CI/CD operations and for the work of developers.Troubleshoot issues along the CI/CD pipeline and suggest necessary improvements by doing automation or by creating self-service documents.Creates technology solutions addressing high-impact business priorities. Demonstrates the ability to analyze, design, code, test, and deploy solutions and product features with high quality to production.Participates in strategic technology decisions and understands how these decisions impact Discover as a whole.Proactively identifies and mitigates issues based on intuition and experience in multiple domains.Coaches technology communities at Discover in areas of specific technology domain, design-thinking, agile software development way of working, security, architecture and/or data engineering.Minimum QualificationsAt a minimum, here’s what we need from you:Bachelors – Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, Information Security, or related.6+ Years -- Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related.Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus engineering scale.Physical and Cognitive RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The base pay for this position generally ranges between $104,000.00 to $175,600.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
