Argen Corporation currently has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Manufacturing Engineering to join a growing, technology-focused and service-oriented team. This position manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes to meet company targets for quality, performance, and cost. You would oversee the daily activities of the department to ensure business and customer needs are met, while also providing insight to leadership about improving manufacturing processes and efficiency.In this role, the successful candidate will:Oversee all aspects of manufacturing engineering including project execution, goal alignment, budget planning, policy deployment, and employee development.Manage manufacturing engineering projects including creating a project plan, setting milestones, and troubleshooting problems.Troubleshoot and investigate new and existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes to resolve issues and eliminate variances.Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve manufacturing processes or products or to reduce costs, using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.Develop and design programs, and execute and maintain cellular workflow automation processes to improve manufacturing automation processes.Understand, facilitate and create Lean Manufacturing workflows and processes for continual improvement and efficiency.Train and coach team members through projects and decision-making processes.Develop goals and objectives for the engineering team.Lead change management processes.Oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain product functionality and cost efficiency.Ensure the engineering team works cohesively with other departments to accomplish organization goals.Work collaboratively alongside R&D and materials engineers in the launch of new and innovative products.Apply engineering knowledge and experience to manufacturing, development, and quality standards for strategic projects.Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.Advise finance and upper management of project statuses that may affect profit, schedules, costs, and customer relations.Partner with the leadership team to discuss and make decisions on manufacturing strategies.Develop and improve manufacturing processes including machining, 3D printing, robotics, molding, milling, finishing, cleaning and packaging.Solve complex design and product performance issues to drive continuous improvement.Analyze the financial impacts of sustainable manufacturing processes or sustainable product manufacturing.Create and maintain engineering budgets for capital projects.Manage the writing and execution of test protocols and reports for Installation, Operational and Performance Qualifications.Review, evaluate and implement engineering changes to meet specification requirements.Ensure continuous improvement of current products and confirm new products meet all company and customer requirements.What does it take to be successful?Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial or other engineering sciences, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Master's degree is a plus.5 - 8 years of manufacturing engineering process development experience.Experience with continuous improvement and Lean projects and teams.3-5 years supervising a team required.Skilled and knowledgeable in manufacturing and new product processing; must have effectively developed processing on multiple new development projects.Advanced knowledge in control procedures, such as the Change Management process, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Argen Engineering Specifications, and Argen Work Instructions.Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.Advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.Demonstrates ownership of and ability to lead projects with a broad scope and high level of complexity and able to prioritize and complete work in a timely manner and within budget.Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills through the use of quality and statistical tools.Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication exhibiting a high level of technical expertise, tact and discretion, and keeps management appropriately informed.Six Sigma and Lean Training certification recommended.Ability to do feasibility studies on advanced processes to estimate product cost and analyze capital equipment, capacity, and capability.Advanced knowledge of chemical vapor deposition and end of line processing is a plus.Our Awesome Benefits!Argen is committed to ensuring the welfare of its employees and provides an amazing benefit package that includes:Health PlansDental PlansVision Plan401k with Employer MatchPaid Time Off and Paid HolidaysEmployee EventsWellness ProgramsDiscounts for home, travel & entertainment.About UsArgen is a family-owned and privately held company based in San Diego, CA with a state-of-the-art manufacturing center that provides high quality dental solutions to dental labs of all sizes.
