JOB DESCRIPTION:

Seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer with Information System Security experience. The position requires a broad set of skills for monitoring and maintaining hardware in compliance with security requirements as well as maintaining a variety of applications used to support infrastructure operations.

The Infrastructure Engineer is an experienced Linux System Administrator. The candidate will assist with supporting a larger team of developers, engineers, and analysts all charged with expanding, operating, and maintaining information systems built upon hundreds of Linux instances on virtualized and bare metal hardware. Team responsibilities include Linux system build automation, network architecture and implementation, all facets of cyber security compliance, deployment and management of core subsystems and services such as storage, DNS, email, VMware clusters, and backups. The team also maintains a small number of Windows systems.

The role of the Infrastructure Engineer is to implement new and upgrade existing systems and services in compliance with applicable security policies and best practices.

Candidates should have an understanding of the cybersecurity policies and procedures for Government (DoD, Intelligence Community) sectors information systems and sufficient technical knowledge and experience to implement them.

The Infrastructure Engineer will help determine and recommend appropriate solutions and implementations to help meet program needs.

Candidate must possess the ability to communicate effectively and be flexible, adaptable, and willing to take ownership of projects.

Candidate will have several technical areas of primary responsibility depending on experience and will be expected to cross train and support other areas as needed. Superior attention to detail is required. Must exhibit positive attitude and good customer service skills at all times.

Must be US Citizen and have an active TS/SCI Clearance with Full Scope Poly.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Experience with on-prem server and storage hardware provisioning, installation and maintenance from vendors such as HPE and Dell

Proficiency with Red Hat Linux/Unix environments to include Red Hat Certified System Engineer (RHCSE) or equivalent skills. 5+ years’ experience as Linux system engineer/admin

Experience with VMware administration to include vSphere, vSAN, virtual distributed switches, and vCenter

Proficient, efficient, and confident in writing and deploying Linux/UNIX scripts for system administration and file management

Functions well in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

Advanced problem solving skills: able to use prior experience and knowledge to address new situations

Security engineering experience

Eagerness to learn new technologies and tools as needed, such as Apache NiFi

DESIRED SKILLS:

Experience providing continuous monitoring support for information systems to include expertise in USG security compliance processes, scan tools and systems

Security certifications (Security+ or CISSP)

Experience with Puppet and/or Ansible

Experience with Apache NiFi

Familiar with source code control tools such as: git, gitlab, cvs, svn

Experience with public key infrastructure (PKI), secure shell (ssh) configuration and troubleshooting, sssd, httpd

Experience with Amazon Web Services or other cloud technologies

Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE); familiarity with GRE tunnels, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, Virtual Port Channel (VPC), FibreChannel SAN

Experience deploying storage preferably from Pure Storage (FlashArray and FlashBlade)

Experience bootstrapping HPE or Dell servers, configuring storage, iLO/iDRAC

Experience deploying monitoring tools such as Grafana or Elastic

Experience with relational database technologies such as Oracle and MySQL

Advanced writing skills: able to clearly articulate ideas for executive level as well as technical staff consumption

Proficiency with Window Server administration

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, plus 5 years of experience is desired.
