The Department of Radiation Oncology, Keck School of Medicine of USC, consists of approximately 14 physician faculty and 9 medical physicist faculty. We provide services at seven hospitals, including Keck Hospital of USC, Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. The department has ACR accreditation for USC Norris Cancer Hospital and all regional radiation oncology clinics. The CHLA radiation oncology unit has earned APEX accreditation and is part of the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Department is equipped with advanced technology including Varian Truebeam systems and a dedicated HDR brachytherapy program. The CHLA Radiation Oncology Program includes a medical physicist, radiation oncologist, radiation therapists, and nurses.

Position Summary

The Department of Radiation Oncology at USC is recruiting a mid-career to senior level board-certified (DABR/DABMP) medical physics faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. Candidates should possess significant pediatric radiation therapy experience and have a strong publication, national service, and teaching record. Experience with radiotherapy clinical trials is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure all physics-related aspects of treatment delivery and patient quality assurance are within acceptable tolerances.

Involved in the radiation oncology radiation safety program.

Provide annual quality management reports.

Consult with physicians or dosimetrists on treatment plans.

Oversee delivery of brachytherapy and ensure radiation safety.

Provide educational support to residents and students.

Conduct original research and participate in the CHLA radiation safety committee.

Minimum Qualifications

ABR/ABMP Board Certified and California Registered TCP.

Associate Professor or Full Professor rank eligibility.

7+ years clinical practice experience in an academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior clinical medical physics experience in pediatric radiotherapy.

Demonstrated national and international reputation in scholarship.

Outstanding communication and teamwork skills.

Interest in leading a medical physics mentorship program.

Experience mentoring junior faculty, residents, and students.

We offer a highly competitive salary package with excellent benefits. The annual base salary range for this position is $245,000 - $330,000.
