We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA’s pursuits in deep space exploration.We have an exciting opportunity for an Orion Flight Software Unit Test Engineer to join our team with the Engineering division.If selected, you will:Collaborate with the software development teamFocus on taking a formal Unit Test Plan for the Orion Flight Software and creating a Google Test implementationDetermine if issues are related to GoogleTest Framework or flight codeRun GoogleTest suite after writing the tests and debug issues until the code runs properly and successfully completesBe responsible for doing code reviews of C/C++ code to spot errors in the logic of the codeWork in an Agile, fast-paced environmentRemote work location available, however, quarterly travel to Houston and/or Denver for a week may be requiredPerform other duties as requested or required by managementRequisition Qualifications:This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering with experience in the field or in a related areaExperience writing and executing Unit Tests on the Google Test Framework or similar frameworkFamiliarity with GMock to perform tasks as a method of isolating the unit under test (UUT)Creativity is required as the code is sometimes written in such a way as to make Unit Testing difficultProficiency with C/C++ coding and experience testing C/C++ classes and their associated methodsExperience with agile software development and tools including Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, git, slack, SharePointExcellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitudeSelf-starter and able to take initiative and work with little directionCan understand and absorb new concepts quicklyRequisition Preferences:Prior background in space or aerospace software is a plusExperience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop and test safety-critical softwareExperience with highly autonomous systemsExperience developing software across the full development life cycleKnowledge of the NASA Gateway Spacecraft systems and softwareExperience with NPR 7150.2 and other NASA software and systems development standardsWhy Join Our Team?In addition to exciting career opportunities, we also have:Excellent personal and professional career growth9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), when applicableProof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.Essential FunctionsGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.Physical RequirementsWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
