DUTIES
Provide advanced expertise, and support to SRNS operations to resolve very broad to abstract technicalissues having division and/or site wide implications. Specific support provided will differ according toassignment, but will generally include directing, planning, developing, implementing, and administeringtechnical operations related programs. Ensure technical aspects of operations or maintenance programsare in compliance with governing directives.
Responsible for directing, planning, developing, implementing, and budgeting for various technicalfunctions in support of the pre-conceptual design, construction, and start-up of process and testingfacilities. Interface and negotiate with vendors to resolve equipment, services, staffing, and technicalrelated issues. Evaluate and analyze equipment, instruments, and procedures needed to upgradeoperations programs. Evaluate, test, and procure new equipment and instruments in support ofassigned operations programs. Ensure technical aspects of operations programs are in compliance withapplicable laws, standards, and DOE Orders. Develop operating procedures and training programs totrain less qualified technicians on various types of equipment and instruments. Serve on variouscommittees regarding standardization of equipment, instrumentation, processes, and training in supportof SRNS and DOE operations programs. Direct daily activity of less qualified technicians and serve as anarea point of contact for the most complex technical issues.
Work Hours : A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s(8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, fivedays on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at thediscretion of the Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEEducation : Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred with a minimum of 8 -12 years of related experience. An Associate's degree and 12 - 15 years of practical experience wouldsubstitute for the higher degree requirement. A high school diploma and 4-6 additional years of practicalexperience would also be considered equivalent.
Experience/Skills:
Considerable amount of creativity may be required to address unique and newproblem areas. Solutions and alternatives to problems generally impact sitewide operations in the face ofsubstantial time constraints and are therefore highly reactive. Erroneous decisions or failure to achievegoals results in additional costs and are likely to cause irrevocable delays in overall schedules. Directsless qualified technical support specialists to meet schedules and or resolve technical issues. Develops andadministers schedules and performance requirements.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Area Security Access : Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. Anactive DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selectedcandidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCandidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years arepreferred.
Preferred candidate will demonstrate a minimum of 20 years of operations or maintenanceexperience in the Tritium Facilities (NNSA) or the commercial nuclear industry. Candidatepreferably will have been certified/qualified in one of the Tritium Facilities as a FLM, Planner orSOM, previous experience with the use and implementation of Department of Energy (DOE) Order(O) 433.1B, Maintenance Management Program for DOE Nuclear Facilities, 1Y-8.20, 4BManual, 2S Manual Conduct of Operation, and related directives and standards. Demonstratedproficiency in development, review and execution of Maintenance programs. Demonstrated previousTritium experience is preferred.
