Job Description

General Summary:

Assists in: design, installation, support, configuration and deployment of servers and storage in data center and remote location environments. Designs, installs, and maintains server operating systems. Evaluates and recommends changes to the current and future server and storage requirements to meet the organization's needs. Prepares and maintains technical systems documentation.

Essential Duties:

Deploys, updates, and monitors data center servers, environmental control systems, applications, software services, and storage. Configures and manages physical and virtual server environments, Microsoft Active Directory Services, spam filtering, email services, and backup systems. Assists with deployment of application software and operating system updates and security patches to servers and desktops. Responds to notification alerts for systems and services when issues arise. Assists in procurement and tracking of Information Technology assets. Travels to offsite locations when necessary. On-call and weekend/holiday work required when necessary.

Education

Required:

BA or BS in Computer Science, Comp Engr., MIS or related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferred:

MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field.

Experience

Required:

Two years of experience in design, installation, and support of networks and servers

Preferred:

Five or more years of experience in design and support of networks and Voice Over IP

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Required:

Preferred:

Network+ Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Professional, A+ Certified Professional

Able to apply network design principles in a heterogeneous OS environment. Must understand Session Initiation Protocol and multimedia comm sessions
