Gusto is seeking a Growth Staff Product Designer to help elevate user experiences that contribute to our business's continued growth. This designer will play a crucial role in shaping how Gusto engages and acquires new customers, serving varied audiences such as employers, employees, accountants, and Gusto's wider ecosystem. As a designer for the Growth team, you'll leverage data, partner closely with cross-functional teams, and create designs that align with our commitment to long-term, trust-centered growth. About the Team:
The Growth Team at Gusto is dedicated to helping customers find, adopt, and engage with our products meaningfully. Our approach prioritizes a user-centric design ethos, ensuring that growth initiatives are backed by value and trust. As a key contributor, you’ll join a collaborative environment with Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and strategic Marketing and Business partners, focusing on critical touchpoints in the customer journey, including on Gusto.com. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day: Lead design strategy and execution for growth initiatives, owning key acquisition touchpoints across Gusto.com and campaign-driven experiences. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Product, Marketing) to craft and test data-driven hypotheses. Drive personalized user journey design tailored to diverse personas and customer needs. Develop and execute experimentation programs to optimize user flow and inform decisions. Translate quantitative and qualitative data into actionable design insights. Utilize Gusto’s design system to ensure consistency across all growth-focused projects. Advocate for customer-first, empathetic design thinking to maintain trust and engagement. Here’s what we're looking for: 5-7+ years of experience in full-stack design, with a strong focus on growth and funnel optimization. Proven experience designing complex, interconnected systems and products. Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially within cross-functional teams. Demonstrated proficiency in translating research findings into design solutions. Familiarity with service design principles and user-centered research. Experience defining and prioritizing high-value projects that impact product roadmaps. Ability to mentor and coach other designers is a plus. HR, Payroll, Healthcare, or Fintech industry experience is a plus, particularly in payments or risk management. Our cash compensation range for this role is $147,000/yr to $199,000/yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $179,000/yr to $221,000/yr in San Francisco, Seattle & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately
2-3 days
per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale. Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
