Responsibilities

The Family Nurse Liaison independently provides family care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation from admission through transfer or discharge. The Registered Nurse works with the interdisciplinary team to provide evidence-based, high quality family/patient care and safety. The role is responsible for facilitating smooth and accurate flow of information to patients/family members from the Pre-op area, PACU and Operating Room, surgeons, while maintaining confidentiality and privacy for all patients. Also serves as a patient/family advocate, using a mediator approach whenever possible. Responsible for promoting comfort and satisfaction among patients and families.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursingRN License with the Maryland Board of NursingBLS CPR certificationAt least 2 years of current clinical experience in the perioperative setting.
