A Day in the LifeIn this role, you will join a world class team of mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers responsible for development and enhancement of a variety of surgical systems including the globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform and its integration within Medtronic’s surgical ecosystem.

Medtronic is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer. This role will collaborate across the Surgical OU Research and Development organization to bring innovation to patients. The successful candidate will lead and/or participate in various aspects of product development from definition, integration, and validation of system solutions to meet the ever-evolving needs of our patients, physician partners, and our business. You will be responsible for systems design control deliverables and exert influence over the design solution. You will perform needs analysis, use case analyses, functional analyses, requirements development, and system and subsystem architecture documentation. You will also perform trade-off studies, prototype evaluations, and clinical acceptability studies.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.
Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires mastery of a specialty area and full knowledge of industry practices, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have broad knowledge of project management. Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) and minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Benefits & CompensationMedtronic offers a competitive Salary and flexible Benefits Package
Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $128,000.00 - $192,000.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
