What this job involves -
The Senior Engineering Manager, Mechanical is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring facilities engineering and maintenance programs across the client portfolio sites, including Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), process plumbing, and other lab support infrastructure. As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee and manage the engineering operations for our clients' facilities, ensuring the efficient and reliable performance of critical systems and equipment. You will lead a team of engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of engineering teams, ensuring the efficient and reliable performance of critical systems and equipment.
Perform facilities condition assessments of building portfolio and associated infrastructure.
Perform risk assessment for planned project and maintenance work to mitigate impacts to operations.
Utilize data from building management system (BMS) and site assessments to determine capacity and utilization of mechanical and process systems via trend analysis and engineering calculations.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) as needed to identify fundamental design, operational, or maintenance issues and to recommend improvements to design guidelines and other processes.
Conduct design reviews for infrastructure and tenant improvement (TI) projects to ensure compliance with relevant standards, design guidelines, best practices, and stakeholder expectations.
Proactively identify process deficiencies and other issues, and develop and implement improvements.
Ensure internal records and databases are verified via ongoing quality assurance / quality control.
Prepare and present reporting to stakeholders as appropriate to drive effective solutions.
Represent client on the project team to ensure stakeholder requirements are appropriately addressed and all issues are effectively resolved.
Recommend new processes, and changes to existing processes, to demonstrate continuous improvement.
Coordinate engineering team resources to meet expectations for various programs and services to stakeholders of the Engineering department.
Provide subject matter expertise (SME) within the team and internal stakeholders to ensure holistic and robust analysis with high quality and clear value to the client and other stakeholders.
Demonstrate ownership of assigned projects, tasks, and initiatives to drive solutions to closure.
Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and support capital improvement projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and standards.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and advancements in engineering practices, recommending innovative solutions to enhance facility performance.
Qualifications required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. (Associates degree with additional relevant experience may be considered.)
10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
Experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection equipment and systems.
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple simultaneous projects.
Demonstrated experience in HVAC engineering fundamentals, including trend analysis.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
Understanding of safety, regulatory, and industry standards related to building engineering operations.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineering and/or Industry certification (i.e. P.E., CRL, CMRP, PMP).
Previous experience leading engineering teams, including determining priorities, delegating and assigning work, and managing resources and deliverable deadlines.
Previous experience in design, commissioning and operational support of HVAC systems.
Previous experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).
Estimated total compensation for this position:
140,000.00 – 176,000.00 USD per year
