The iPhone Hardware Engineering team is seeking a hardworking and passionate electrical engineer for the position of Hardware Engineer - System Technologies. The ideal candidate will work with iPhone, AirPods, and iPad Hardware multi-functional teams to perform in-depth debug, modeling, and design validation of sophisticated power conversion systems.DescriptionPerform design feasibility study, design testing and verification, and system bring up. Provide design guidelines and support to system architecture design, board layout, product bring up, debug, validation, and factory builds. Ability to design, analyze, and validate power delivery solutions, including modeling of DC-DC converters, passives, power distribution networks and their potential for EMI. Work with Xfunct stakeholders on Power Architecture, IP specs and performance, passives. Develop and improve design methodologies to achieve minimal EMI. Work with multi-functional teams to define design requirements for improved EM performance. 3D-EM and circuit modeling and simulations in the frequency and time domains. Simulation and analysis of system high-speed circuits for signal integrity and their potential for EMI.Minimum QualificationsBS or MS in relevant field3+ years of experienceMust have experience in power electronics related design and development, including DC-DC converters and LDOsMust have strong EE fundamentals and problem-solving skillsStrong laboratory board-level testing, debugging, and validation experience with lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and signal generatorsPreferred QualificationsPhD in relevant field7+ years of experienceExperience in cross-functional collaborationExperience in architecture design of complex power conversion systems or power management ICsKnowledge of Power and Signal integrity, and electromagnetic theory, especially in relation to switching regulators, HF ICs, and magneticsExperience in layout planning and routing strategies of complex power distribution networks (PDN) design for sophisticated power conversion systemsHands-on experience in using EM and circuit simulation tools, such as Ansys HFSS/Maxwell/SIWave, CST, ADS/Spice/Spectre, Cadence/Sigrity for debugging and mitigating complex EM and noise coupling issuesHands-on experience in high frequency and EM testing and validation with lab equipment (near field scanning, spectrum analyzers, impedance analyzers and VNAs)Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
