The Director of Health Center Governance will be responsible for the design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of NACHC’s health center governance training and technical assistance (TTA) portfolio, which serves health center boards and board members. The Director will collaborate both internally and externally to produce relevant training and resources addressing health center board roles and topical issues in healthcare tailored for the needs of health centers.Description
The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is the national membership organization for the nation’s federally qualified health centers (also known as FQHCs or Community Health Centers). Health centers are nonprofit, community-directed health clinics that provide access to high-quality, culturally competent, and comprehensive care to people living in medically underserved areas. NACHC strengthens the health center movement through advocacy, training, and technical assistance, clinical and operations support. We design, deliver, and evaluate health center training services with three guideposts in mind: content relevance, engaging instructional design, and leveraging partnerships. Director of Health Center Governance
will be responsible for the design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of NACHC’s health center governance training and technical assistance (TTA) portfolio, which serves health center boards and board members. The Director will collaborate both internally and externally to produce relevant training and resources addressing health center board roles and topical issues in healthcare tailored for the needs of health centers and their unique patient-majority, volunteer boards.Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive TTA portfolio focused on health center governance inclusive of:Maintaining an understanding of health center board TTA needs, knowledge of good governance practices, and learning about issues impacting health centers.Developing and implementing a strategic approach to governance TTA in consultation with supervisor to address board needs focused on both good governance practice and emerging issues for health centers.Developing and/or managing the development of training curricula, tools, and resources for health center boards and board members.Ensuring TTA products address complex topics in a way that is understandable for patient-majority volunteer boards.Ensuring TTA products are delivered using various modalities (e.g., e-learning, cohort programs, training, etc.) and in alignment with adult learning principles.Cultivating and developing faculty for TTA programs.Evaluating TTA activities and using feedback to refine and improve future programs.Contribute to business operations and financial stewardship for NACHC through project management for assigned portfolio inclusive of but not limited to:Contributing to grant proposal, budget development, and fulfilling funder reporting requirements.Managing the deliverable milestone and budget for grants related to area of focus.Providing oversight of contracting, invoicing and expenses management workflow for assigned area of focus.Collaborating on marketing and communication about the assigned portfolio.Supervise, coach, and guide direct reports and engage as a member of the functional area’s supervisory team.Serve as a subject matter expert/senior liaison on health center governance inclusive of but not limited to:Serving as training faculty on health center governance.Serving as an internal subject matter expert on health center governance to inform programming.Providing consultation and guidance to external training partners on health center governance.Contributing to the delivery of consultation and training services.Manage ongoing efforts to collect data to better understand and serve health center boards in collaboration with internal and external partners.Contribute to NACHC’s overall programming and objectives inclusive of but not limited to:Developing and delivering content on health center governance at NACHC Conferences.Supporting NACHC Committees.Serving on cross-functional teams as appropriate.Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Nonprofit governance knowledge and experience working with nonprofit boards and board members.Experience strategically establishing, maintaining, and growing internal and external partnerships.Business acumen in the provision of training and technical assistance services.Success with the management, oversight, and stewardship of resources.Experience with people, program and project management, strategic leadership, and organizational change management.Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated competence in application of adult learning and instructional design principles and technique.Bachelor’s degree in related discipline; and minimum eight years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 including PowerPoint and Excel.Exceptional attention to detail.Commitment to NACHC’s mission and pillars.Willingness to travel to 3-4 NACHC conferences annually and several regional events each year.
