We require an experienced cook who is familiar with a wide range of cooking techniques, including poaching, braising, roasting, charbroiling, sauting, grilling, frying, and baking. $23 - $26 hourlyResponsibilities:
Establish a system of food stations and stock them with all of the necessary ingredients for the shift
Clean and sanitize all workstations, including counters, utensils, cooking equipment, and the refrigerator, in accordance with health and safety regulations
Ensure that all interactions with visitors, vendors and colleagues are conducted in a professional and friendly manner
Adhere to established storage and waste control standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products to ensure quality food is served
Prepare food orders on the line by cooking items to order, grilling, broiling, sauteing and meet all presentation guidelines and follow standard recipes
Ensure that all mise en place is prepared for respective stations as well as proper forecasting of prep needs for assigned stationsPrepare food products and execute dishes meeting the standards of the Hotel Management, ensuring that food production is coordinated with meal hours so that the quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preservedAbility to safely operate kitchen equipment including, but not limited to, ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, steamers, mixers, and chef's knivesPerform duties to include setup and breakdown of the station, and cleanliness of the work area including all surfaces, equipment, floor, and dish room functions as necessary
Qualifications:
Ability to understand and comply with kitchen sanitation, safety and equipment usage, and food storage
Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate
Candidates must be hardworking, detail-oriented, and have a strong work ethic
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers
Previous experience working in food service is preferred
Must be eligible to work in the United States of AmericaPrevious experience as a line cook in a similar property, culinary school, or completion of apprenticeship program preferred, or proven experience in higher volume and/or fine dining kitchensAbility to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacyAbility to understand verbal directions, as well as written menus, recipes, labels on foods and chemicals, and other workplace safety signageAbility to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
