The Walker Network Services Division has a successful track record of performing low voltage network infrastructure, audio/visual, and security installations as well as having the experience and capability to handle your entire Technology Project Management needs. Job Description:
A Network Technician works under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent on installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of structured cabling systems, associated materials and equipment on any type of project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A Technician may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classification NI (Network Installer) in addition to the following;
Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
Performs overhead and underground layout and rough-in.
Terminate all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair and Category 3 through 6.
Measures, cuts, bends, assembles, and installs cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools.
Assembles and installs relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields, and associated components.
Performs fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types.
Perform structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
Correctly set up and operate copper and fiber optic testing equipment.
Troubleshoots and resolves problems in structured cabling systems.
Operates and hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.
Requirements:
Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.
Must understand basic communications theory and its application to installations.
Must be able to work occasional overtime as required.
Licenses: Current Driver's License and must have own reliable transportation.
Experience: MUST have 3 or more years of on the job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Technician level.
Education:
High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.
Additional Experience for Network Foreman:
Must have 5 or more years of on the job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Installer and Technician levels.
A Network Foreman may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classification NI (Network Installer) and NT (Network Technician) in addition to the following;
Responsible for all Walker Network Technicians and Installers on a Network Services construction crew of project.
Does a working estimate and takeoff jointly with the Superintendent.
Additional Experience for Network Superintendent:
Must have 5 or more years of supervising structured cabling, voice data, security install or A/V install work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Installer and Technician levels.
Does a working estimate and takeoff jointly with the Project Manager.
Lays out work for subordinate Foremen and lead persons.
Establishes work schedules and man-loading charts.
Interfaces with representatives of the General Contractor on a day to day project scheduling and overall performance issues.
Provides general supervision to subordinate Foremen engaged in the installation of structured cabling installations; and related connections and terminations.
Monitors work as performed, directs subordinate Foremen and crews, and schedules work according to the pace of the job and other trades.
Is responsible overall project safety performance.
