Job Summary:

Assists with dispensing medications and treatments of Residents as ordered by a Physician.Qualifications:Medication dispensing experience preferredTraining and instruction per qualified staffExperience and understanding of geriatrics beneficial*Ability to adhere to the organization, federal/state regulations regarding nursing careAbility to communicate well with peopleBe available to work every other weekend and holidays as neededEssential Functions:Dispensing medications and treatments properly, according to doctor's ordersOrders medications in a timely manner to ensure the resident is never out of a medicationDocument record keeping and other information regarding residents' medication, vital signs, nursing care and services provided for the residents.Assist assigned Personal CaregiversIs aware of residents' needs and responds accordinglyResponds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies including resident and co-worker safetyObserves, assesses, and reports change in residents' conditions to co-workers, physicians, and/or family.Maintains confidentiality regarding information/medical recordsMaintains clean work areas/cleans cartProjects a positive image of the organization in dealing with residents, co-workers, families, and the publicPhysical requirements:* Communicates orally and in writing with residents, co-workers, families, and the public* Possesses coordination to administer injections, etc.Stands or walks up to 90% of 8-hour shiftOccasionally transfers up to an average of 100 lbs with an assist while lifting, positioning, and transferring residentsPushes/pulls residents weighing 70-250 lbs in a wheelchairReads small print on medication, equipment and written materialsIdentifies staff, residents, family, etc.Able to hear normal sounds including conversations, alarms, etc. Distinguishes sound from stethoscopes, etc.Possesses the ability to concentrate, understand and remember instructions, messages, details, and task assignmentsAble to push approximately up to 100-pound cart on casters 392 feet (length of the hallway) on the carpeted floorFrequently twists, stoops, bends, occasionally kneels, squatsEnvironmental Conditions:* Occasional exposure to blood/bodily fluidsFrequent exposure to bacteria, viruses, and other infectious agents in dealing with residents, co-workers, family, and publicMandation when necessary - required to stay on shift if replacement does not report for dutyRequirements:
