International Regional Development Director
Brown University is seeking an International Regional Development Director for Advancement, responsible for strategically managing a portfolio of approximately 150-200 principal and major gift prospects and donors aligned within a specific geographic territory who can make gifts of $500,000 - $5,000,000 to the University. Regions covered include India, Singapore, the Middle East, Greece, Turkey, and the related London diaspora. The Director is expected to raise a minimum of $5-10M from their portfolio. Primary Responsibilities: Effective prospect and donor relationship management of high-level alumni, parents, and friends, including field qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Developing solicitation strategies and closing major and principal gifts aligned with University campaigns and major fundraising priorities. Collaboration with colleagues, peers, and fundraising unit managers within various fundraising programs. Planning and managing regional events. Staffing University administrators and faculty on development visits with prospects and donors. Recording activities, contacts, proposals, and strategic plans in the donor database. The Director will work closely with academic leaders and senior University Administrators and must have an interest in global affairs and geopolitics, confidently interacting with Brown alumni, parents, and friends from around the world. Job Qualifications Education and Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Advancement or a related field such as development, nonprofit, higher education, sales, customer relations, or volunteer management. Required Qualifications: Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner. Proven ability to solicit and close philanthropic gifts on the six-figure+ level. Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to implement and advance strategic plans. Working knowledge of email, calendars, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and donor databases. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel internationally. A valid passport is required. Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience with major gift fundraising in a capital campaign and knowledge of Brown University. Experience in a higher education or non-profit setting. Interest in global affairs and experience living or working internationally. Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
