Java Developer – Contract Position

Contract Length: 7 months with the possibility of extending based on performance.**Local Richmond, VA candidates ONLY required due to onsite requirement.Mgr will do initial Web Based IV but may request follow up IN PERSON if needed.Mgr REQUIRES that the candidate be within commuting distance to the client office (within 2 hours’ drive) bc of initial hybrid schedule, regular scheduled meetings and onsite training. DO NOT submit if they cannot meet this requirement.Occasional non-business hours (evenings and weekends) may be required.ABOUT THE ROLEThis position will serve as an application developer for the client Information Management Division in the design, development, and maintenance of Java/JEE based applications. Production support for one or more agency critical applications will also be included in this position. Responsibilities include:Plan and complete assigned work.Communicate effectively orally and in writing.Motivate and work with people.Quickly adapt to new technical environments (multiple disciplines).Manage multiple projects with dynamic priorities.Address highly technical and strategic issues/projects.Provide accurate and realistic effort estimates, commit and deliver accordingly.Develop, test, debug, document, and maintain Java/JEE applications.Understand and interpret customer requirements and develop solutions to meet them.Develop and maintain system documentation, including technical specifications, data mapping, program logic, and flowcharts.Required/Desired SkillsExpertise in Core Java concepts, such as OOP Design, Multi-Threading, Generics, Exception Handling, Collections, Java Reflection, Annotation. Required, 5 YearsExtensive practical experience in building enterprise applications using Java EE technologies. Required, 5 YearsExperience in ORM frameworks, Configuration management, Build and testing tools. Required, 5 YearsUnderstanding of relational database concepts, specifically Oracle, and software development life cycle. Required, 5 YearsExperience with Production Support for mission critical applications. Required, 1 YearExperience in application servers. Required, 2 YearsExperience with multiple operating systems: Linux, Unix, Windows. Required, 5 YearsExperience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, Git Work Flows.
