Join Bayer Crop Science's Location360 team as a Geospatial Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing and implementing big data solutions leveraging open source and cloud-based technologies. Collaborate with various teams across the organization to build large-scale data processing systems and APIs, working on high-throughput API/microservice ecosystems. Drive the engineering and construction of geospatial data assets supporting Bayer's Field Platform and R&D product pipeline.Responsibilities:- Design, build, and support cloud and open-source systems for processing geospatial data assets via an API-based platform.- Collaborate with internal development communities to incorporate necessary datasets into the asset and make data accessible to Bayer Enterprise and internal development groups.- Develop highly scalable APIs and associative architectures to handle thousands of requests per second.- Lead efforts to enhance Bayer's understanding of environmental influences on field performance and risk factors.- Engage in all software life cycle stages: Proof of Concept, MVP, Production, and Deprecation.Skills:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field, or 7+ years of overall experience.- Minimum 2 years of experience with Python, Java, Go, or similar languages.- Experience building HTTP APIs (REST/GraphQL) in open-source technologies within a cloud environment.- Ability to construct modern cloud architecture (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and work with PostgreSQL/PostGIS.- Familiarity with code versioning tools (e.g., GitHub), dependency management systems (SVT/Maven), Docker for CI/CD deployment (preferably Kubernetes).Qualifications:- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field is desirable.- Knowledge of open-source geospatial solutions like GeoServer, GeoTrellis, GeoMesa is a plus.- Experience with stream processing tools such as Kafka is beneficial.- Proficiency in GoLang for at least 4 years is advantageous.- Strong background in full-stack development solutions within Agile environments involving customer collaboration.This position offers an exciting opportunity to work remotely while contributing to cutting-edge projects that shape the future of digital agriculture.
