Job DescriptionGTRI’s Cooperative Education (“co-op”) program offers you extensive opportunities to participate in diverse scientific and technological endeavors, use state-of-the-art equipment and rapidly improve your technical and leadership skills. The program allows you to alternate three semesters of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school.
Georgia Tech Research Institute's Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) seeks a student intern to join our Intelligent Systems Design (ISD) team for Spring 2025. Students will assist Research Engineers in various Software Development related tasks. Students should be interested in learning about aircraft sustainment and modernization processes, tools, and datasets, creating updated processes and toolsets, and employing continuous process improvement practices.
Due to the nature of the work at GTRI, job duties will depend upon contract and sponsor needs. Students could participate in the following projects/tasks:
Perform software development, software debugging, software modification/enhancement, and software documentation
Develop and maintain kernel and user-level software and scripts
Contribute to technical reports and presentations
Required Minimum Qualifications
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or other related fields
3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
Must be eligible to be approved by your college/university to participate in a co-op program and register for co-op credit with your university during work terms
Must be able to complete at least three full-time co-op terms (alternating three terms of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school) prior to graduation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in 1 or more programming languages
Task / team leadership experience
Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
Configuration management tools
Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
Hours per Week40 hours per week
U.S. Persons RequirementsDue to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Persons.
Clearance Type RequiredCandidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
