SUMMARYThe Chief Accounting Officer oversees the Accounting Department for Colliers Mortgage Holdings, which includes Colliers Securities, Funding, Mortgage, and Insurance. This position is ultimately responsible for the organizations’ books and records, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, treasury management, audits, income taxes, budgeting, and strategic analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the accounting department and guide, direct, and review work performed by employees
Establish accounting policies and procedures and construct and monitor reliable internal control systems
Oversee all financial, regulatory, and tax reporting
Prepare reliable forecasting reports and manage the budgeting process
Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
Perform strategic financial analysis and develop financial and tax strategies and incentive plans
Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
Maintain professional and technical accounting, tax, and regulatory knowledge through research, networking with peers, and attending workshops
Maintain relationships with external auditors, tax preparers, banks, and lenders
Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
Other duties as needed
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
7+ years of accounting experience required
Proven motivational skills and effective coaching capabilities
Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
Familiarity with FINRA and SEC rules and regulations
Knowledge of Internal Revenue Code
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, MBA/MA preferred
CPA Required
Exceptional analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong critical thinking and sound decision-making skills
Skilled at multitasking and meeting tight deadlines
Adept at maintaining a balance between detailed focus and strategic vision
