The work we do here matters.Department OverviewThe Presales Engineering group is the technical center of the Sales organization. Our engineers bring to life the innovative communications solutions that make a difference in the moments that matter. As the solutions architect owner, the Presales Engineering group has the technology and design responsibility for all sales support engagements.Job DescriptionMotorola Solutions is building talent pipelines to meet future hiring demands. This is a pipeline role; while there is not an immediate opening, we want to build relationships with prospective candidates like you. If your background is a match to our requirements, we'll follow up with an exploratory conversation.The Presales Engineer will oversee presales opportunities and development of complex projects, managing all stages of the projects from scope definition through project closure. The Presales Engineer is the architect and owner of solutions proposed to our public safety customers. This includes development, design, evaluation, and modification of system solutions and architecture to meet customer requirements.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Radio coverage design and analysisGenerating equipment listsDescribing system designs, including creating diagramsUnderstanding customer requirementsCalculating power and networking requirementsParticipating in proposal reviews and contract negotiationsProviding consultative guidance to customers and the sales teamDelivering presentations to customersCoordinating with various functional teams to address business unit goals in proposals and win-strategiesDeveloping implementation approaches and service plans to win competitive projectsMeeting/exceeding customer requirements and suggesting value alternatives when requirements cannot be metManaging solutions to meet sales, revenue and margin goalsDriving sole source & RFP (Request for Proposal) projects to completionCollaborating with project team members in the development of proposed solutionsWorking with third-party vendors to develop fully integrated solutionsQualificationsA Bachelor's of Science degree is preferred. Desired emphasis in Electrical, Wireless, Computer, Network Engineering or Computer Science.Seeking 4+ years of experience in sales engineering and/or solutions architecture.Strong general knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures - both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, LTE, 802.11, 3G/4G) is highly desirable.Strong general knowledge of IP networking architecture, protocols and security is highly desirable.Knowledge of Radio Frequency coverage predictions, traffic/capacity modeling, and related toolsets is an asset.Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Willingness to think out of the box and challenge the status quo.Attention to detail and a flawless execution mindset.Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the designated region.Basic RequirementsBachelor's Degree with 4+ years of sales/engineering/public safety experience OR 8+ years of sales/engineering/public safety experienceTravel RequirementsUnder 25%Relocation ProvidedNonePosition TypeExperiencedReferral Payment PlanNoOur U.S. Benefits include:Incentive Bonus PlansMedical, Dental, Vision benefits401K with Company Match10 Paid HolidaysGenerous Paid Time Off PackagesEmployee Stock Purchase PlanPaid Parental & Family Leaveand more!EEO StatementMotorola Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
