Together, we are powering the growth and success of our community progress every day!Deadline to Apply: November 20, 2024Pay Grade12**Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level**Position SummaryThe Analyst Energy Portfolio Analytics position supports quantitative analysis functions for the Energy Portfolio Analytics (EPA) section of the Energy Supply & Market Operations (ESMO) department. The role takes direction from the Manager of Commercial Analytics and Pricing (CAP) in the EPA group. This role supports the CAP team in pricing strategy, power forecasting, and market operations. The position involves analyzing market trends and power contracts to guide business strategy. This role also assists our Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE) by providing data and reports that aid in managing energy supply and demand in the ERCOT market. Management of data and information and communication and presentation of analysis methodologies and results are required.Tasks and ResponsibilitiesSupport in forecasting wholesale power prices and adjusting pricing strategies.Analyze market data and transactions to help inform strategic decisions and evaluate Power Purchase Agreements. Conduct statistical analysis, builds models, and supports risk analysis for energy trades.Aid in representing the QSE with ERCOT and supporting compliance with market protocols.Provide data analysis for Day-Ahead and Real-Time market operations, offering insights on transmission impacts, generation dispatch, and improving workflow processes.Work with the broader team on energy market trends, collaborating on risk management and operational goals. Assist with analytics and support development across various initiatives.Write process documentation including checklist to confirm processes were followed.Manage and merge large data sets, extract information from data platforms for application in various projects and processes to develop insights for business decisions.Provides analysis support on various type of projects such as new power plant projects, plant upgrade and retirement decisions and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) on solar, wind, energy storage and other types of resources.Researches market information and works with CPS Energy internal subject matter experts and consultants to support forecast developments.Learns and stays abreast of key energy policies and regulations that may impact cost, planning and decision- making for generation resources.Utilizes computer-based business models, such as Excel, Aurora, Gen Trader, Tableau, Alteryx, and/or other analysis tools to conduct analysis.Presents analysis methodologies and results to internal stakeholders, providing recommendations as needed.Discover insights from disparate data sources and present information using data visualization techniques.Performs other research and analysis as assigned.Performs tasks with supervision and support from EPA Management and other senior team members.

Minimum SkillsMinimum Knowledge and AbilitiesAbility to learn and understand basic principles of electricity production, power plant operations, and electricity and fuel markets. Ability to gain knowledge of the CPS Energy Resource Portfolio and other Resources in the long-range plan or under consideration. Ability to learn and gain knowledge of ERCOT Market principles and protocols. Ability to learn and gain knowledge of Utility Principles. Ability to work on cross-functional teams. Experience in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling. Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited university, particular an MBAAdvanced analytics experience (Excel, Python, Tableau, Alteryx)Knowledge and experience in energy production cost modeling using tools such as Aurora and Gen Trader
