We are currently seeking a Gene Therapy Account Manager (GTAM) to support our Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and Transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia (TDT) Heme Business Unit.
As part of a national team, the Gene Therapy Account Management, Associate Director (GTAM) will approach each day with a demonstrated passion for improving Sickle Cell Disease and Transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia patient care delivery. They will also demonstrate an extreme desire for achievement as well as a high level of focus and engagement.
The Gene Therapy Account Management, AD (GTAM) will be a dynamic team player that is able to self-lead in an ever-evolving environment, embody mental resilience, maintain a strategic problem-solving mindset, and effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. The Gene Therapy Account Management, AD (GTAM) will be skilled at running a business and understanding the key drivers for business optimization, collaboration and pull through success. This includes but is not limited to creating and implementing strategic account plans that are based on identifying and harnessing business opportunities for significant growth across a diverse customer landscape. The Gene Therapy Account Management, AD (GTAM) will be a process and gene therapy educator while also ensuring consistent utilization and pull through of Vertex’s gene therapy.
The successful candidate will bring a strong clinical understanding of cell and gene therapy with the ability to manage complex treatment logistics with regulatory and compliance requirements. They will have a demonstrated record of successful account management in large accounts, as well as a proven track record of establishing and cultivating key customer engagements and relationships in a hybrid work environment (Live and Virtual: Zoom Meetings, Virtual Presentations, Other). They have a track record of achievement working with IDNs/ACOs/ large community and government accounts with a proven ability to successfully communicate and execute organizational goals and brand strategies. They can think broadly, strategically, and thrive in a fast-changing environment and possess exceptional organizational and time management skills.
This is a remote position and ideally we are looking for a candidate that has a strong understanding of the Central and Southern FL CGT landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Build awareness and education for Vertex’s gene therapy by engaging with key stakeholders within assigned accounts and geographies (e.g., C Suite level personnel and key decision makers)
Oversee and coordinate all Authorized Treatment Center (ATC) onboarding and activation while serving as the main point of contact for ongoing communication and engagement
Onboard and activate Authorized Treatment Centers (ATCs) to include timely outreach & engagement, kick off meetings, and coordinating all steps in the activation process such as but not limited to contracting, staff training, process overviews, project management and order readiness
Build and execute comprehensive account plans for Authorized Treatment Centers (ATCs), referral networks, and community practices while managing approved resources within approved budget
Engage with hospital and community-based HCPs focused on hemoglobinopathies to facilitate consideration of gene therapy
Strong understanding of and leadership in pharmaceutical and healthcare compliance
Partner with cross functional stakeholders to ensure HCPs and other account-based decision-makers have timely access to critical solutions and necessary support throughout the patient journey
Participate in patient advocacy, outreach, and identification with local advocacy organizations as appropriate
Facilitate and provide appropriate and timely feedback to Vertex management and key stakeholders regarding account level business trends, changes in the therapeutic landscape, business issues and opportunities
Maintain clinical expertise in Hematology, including Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), Transfusion-dependent B-thalassemia (TDT) and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT)
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree is required
Minimum of 8 years’ commercial or clinical experience, including previous account management and/or first line people management experience in the Biotech, Device, Laboratory, or specialty field sales environments, such as Cell and Gene therapy, Hematology, Transplant, Oncology/Immunology, rare disease experience or clinical experience within the Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) or Cell & Gene settings.

Pay Range:$152,000 - $228,000

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
