Your work will involve everything from building simple-to-use User Interfaces and experiences to Client frameworks with performance and power efficiency in mind. You love collaborating within the team and, equally importantly, with cross-functional engineering teams. In addition to crafting efficient, testable, easy-to-maintain code, you recognize the importance of writing functional specifications and design documents. As a key member of our team, you are responsible for maintaining our technology stack and for crafting new functionality. You are an extremely capable engineer with a strong background in building high-performance, extensible systems. The successful applicant will have a strong background in system-level engineering, the vision to create foundational work and build on it to provide functionality, and the drive to successfully see tasks through to completion. Quality is number one in your mind, and you thrive on building comprehensive unit and end-to-end tests, not only for features you build but also for existing features that need more testing.Minimum Qualifications5+ years experience with iOS and/or Mac systems/application engineering, building pixel-perfect, complex, and accessible user interfaces/applications/frameworks in Objective-C and Swift.Experience defining and integrating with Web Service APIs.Inquisitive and highly-motivated self-starter and problem solver with a drive to integrate, communicate, and work well with large projects and teams.Demonstrated experience designing, building and maintaining high-performance systems and frameworks.Preferred QualificationsExperience integrating with OS services using XPC with a balanced understanding of security practices like privilege separation/escalation.Demonstrated experience in influencing the architecture of backend systems, prioritizing user experience throughout the process.Our applications are complex and strong programming fundamentals are essential. Whether you have a traditional CS degree or learned some other way, we’d love to talk with you.Additional RequirementsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
