Apple’s Worldwide Developer Relations team works every day to provide the services, resources, and mentorship that enable the world’s most dynamic developer community to stretch the limits of their imaginations and bring the next big app idea to Apple’s platforms to customers across the globe. We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to play an integral role in building the data foundations, interpreting quantitative data, and developing insights for the Apple Developer Program. A successful candidate in this role will have deep expertise working with massive data sets, a relentless curiosity in finding the causality that can explain patterns and trends, and excellent communication skills to provide objective findings.DescriptionThe WWDR Developer Programs & Infrastructure team is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to produce analysis for legal and regulatory initiatives involving the Apple Developer Program. This role will be responsible for reporting, both as-needed and on a repeating cadence, that is visible not only to Apple but to external parties. This reporting will be critical in measuring Apple’s ability to meet regulations across the globe; to measure the impact of initiatives to combat fraud, abuse, and malware; and to ensure transparency to developers and customers alike. Other responsibilities include:Serving as an expert on the data sources associated with our services and processes.Proposing solutions to engineering partners that enable deeper insights and breakthroughs in our ability to measure our work.Collaborating with partners across legal, engineering, product, and support teams to identify opportunities to better represent the work we do.Supporting a global team, requiring responsiveness and flexibility outside of normal business hours.Minimum QualificationsDegree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.10+ years of data analysis experience.A background in data analysis, particularly reporting in a highly-regulated industry, or in transparency reporting.Key QualificationsDemonstrated ability to build strong relationships across an organization.Strong ability to work cross-functionally, including with legal, engineering, and support teams.Familiarity with mobile app development, and the lifecycle of an app on Apple’s platforms.Strong root-cause analysis skills, with a passion for identifying the factors causing shifts in trends and patterns.Experience working with large datasets (millions+ records) of structured and unstructured data.Understanding and advocacy of version control, code review, testing.Ability to build batch type, orchestrated data integrations.Experience with data validations and pipeline monitoring to ensure integrity and consistency in solutions.Strong technical proficiency, including data, software, and infrastructure.Outstanding communication skills, being able to clearly articulate complex data analysis into explainable terms.Attention to detail, data accuracy, and quality of output.Additional RequirementsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $112,900 and $234,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
