POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Lead reports to the Production Supervisor and is based out of our Hendersonville, North Carolina location. This individual will support all operators on the line by helping with line balancing, troubleshooting equipment, product quality checks, product safety (including sensory (CQP) and monitoring of CCP requirements), and support break and lunch relief while keeping a clean and organized work area.
Primary Responsibilities include:Maintain a clean work area:
Occasional hosing down and mopping the area as needed throughout the dayAssist the line operators in picking up dropped caps, bottles, labels, cardboard, or any other spillage in the production areaEnsure floors are free of juice by washing down any spillage to minimize slippery conditionsEnsure the area is organized and free of debris, such as wood chips from pallets, especially near the fillerEnsure the area is wiped and cleaned through the "clean as you go" program
Operate and troubleshoot equipment throughout the line and support maintenance when there is downtimeAssist with package changeovers on all the equipment by adjusting rails, swapping out change parts on the filler, labeler, and packerCoordinate breaks and lunches with other operators and fill in as the operator while the operator is on break or lunchEnsure the highest productivity on the line by maintaining a balanced line and reducing or minimizing waste on the line when it comes to juice, caps, labels, cardboard, bottles, and other packaging materialsRework bottles from the empty chute from the single filler and dump back juice that is reworkableEnsure good quality product by assisting the operators with analytical checks such as sensory (CQP), monitoring of CCP requirements, brix, TA, correct label usage, correct coding, and correct use of trays/RSC. Verify individual runs on the cap code, bottle code, and case codeCoordinate with the forklift operator on correct bottle usage and cap usage at the fillerVerify employees are using equipment guards and following safety rules and policiesTrain new employees that are hired in the work area assignedAdvanced knowledge of the fieldLead by example and assist others who may need guidanceBe accessible for employees to ask questions regarding areas of expertiseProvide positive recognition to employees who exhibit good behavior in their work areaProvide feedback to managers on individual and team performanceAccountable for food safety, food quality, and regulatory requirements for their positionEncouraged to notify management about actual or potential food safety issuesAdopt and maintain all SQF requirements for their positionEmpowerment to work with supervision to resolve food safety and food quality issues within their scope of workThis role will be required to taste test products as needed, up to a couple of ounces per test.Perform other related duties as required and assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentOne year of production experience operating equipmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDetailed oriented and can multi-taskExcellent time management skills
Additional Preferred QualificationsExperience in the food/beverage industryExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in standard computer applications including MS Office programsDetail oriented; ability to multi-taskExcellent time management skillsAbility to work independentlyCredibility and IntegrityBuild and maintain professional relationships
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.
FREQUENT:
sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.
OCCASIONAL:
squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing up to 50lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.
VISION:
Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
HEARING:
Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
