Overview
The Sr Storage Engineer role includes leading the design, configuration, development, integration, testing, implementation, documentation and support of Storage and Backup infrastructure environments. Manage the building of Storage and Backup Infrastructure services through a deep understanding of the application requirements. Work with Architecture, Operational teams to develop, apply and support for Enterprise Storage and Backup Infrastructure processes, tools, and environments.

Responsibilities Job Description
Job Expectations:
Analyze, design, and implement mission critical storage and backup solutions for advanced storage and virtualized infrastructure. Optimizing for performance, scalability, and availability across multiple computing environments and platforms.
Be a subject matter expert across all storage and data protection platforms, utilized at Fairview (E.g. NetApp, Pure Storage, AWS, CommVault). SME level knowledge of block, file, and object storage platforms and the primary protocols used in those platforms (CIFS/NFS/S3/FC)
Work with business and application development teams to extract requirements and propose appropriate storage and backup solutions and standards.
Create and maintain procedures that meet operational, regulatory, and company policies. Ensure consistent storage and backup availability and capabilities. Establish and maintain documentation of the current technology state and effectively propose enhancements.
Create and maintain optimal backup, restore and redundancy solutions for business-critical data. Perform capacity planning and performance tuning as it relates to the storage infrastructure. Upgrade software, apply patches, and ensure physical security of data.
Oversee and perform diagnosis, troubleshoot, and conduct root-cause analysis for any issues on the storage and backup platforms.
Lead the creation of documentation for storage and backup environments. The documentation would include standard operating procedures, solutions, knowledge base articles and applicable project documentation.
Evaluate input and output for systems, as well as overall architecture, to recommend improvements. Design disaster recovery plans and enforce backup and archival procedures.
Research and identify industry trends in the storage and backup space, leveraging new ideas to improve the service design and support for the customer base.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
10-14 years’ experience engineering design and support of data center core infrastructures (E.g. Storage, Data Protection, Compute/Virtualization, Networking)
8-10 years’ experience to multiple hardware platforms, and integrated information management systems (E.g. NetApp, Pure Storage, Isilon, ECS, CommVault)
SME level knowledge in Storage and Backup technologies (CIFS/NFS/S3/FC/NVMe)
Advanced knowledge and understanding of Storage and Backup Security Practices
Good knowledge and understanding of SOX or an alternative Security Compliance including data privacy practices and law
Solid technical knowledge of VMware and other Virtualization Technologies
Expert knowledge in core enterprise infrastructure
Expert technical knowledge of PC’s, Networks, and other Operating Systems
Expert technical knowledge of supporting Hardware including Intel, Cisco and SAN / NAS environments
Certifications
Tier 1 Storage certifications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within the Healthcare Industry
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certified
