Scientific Service Support Specialist

Schedule to be determined based on lab and office requirements.Pay rate : $28.00 - $32.75 per hourOverview:Works inside designated customer sites coordinating client moves or providing high touch support.Coordinates and communicates with end users regarding all aspects of the Program including service call initiation, scheduling, maintenance, inventory data integrity, escorting of vendors for managed activities, safety and day to day lab operations.Coordinate the delivery and installation of Client purchased instruments with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) at local and remote Client sites.Coordinate the transportation of instruments to the Client lab site, including safe de-crating to prevent instrument damage.Updates data records to ensure complete and accurate visibility to instrument delivery and installation data.Collaborate with Client Capital Asset Stewards to ensure accurate instrument tagging.Coordinate the removal as well as transfer of assets to and from Client sites.Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environmentMay be required to travel to other client sites for training and meetingsDay to Day:The role is focused on asset onboarding and involves working in restricted environments, like science labs (e.g., VSL 123).Tasks include placing tracking labels on assets, working with end users for installation, and updating metrics in a customer-created database.The role requires tracking each asset from purchase through installation and tagging for inventory and service purposes.Responsibilities are split between on-site lab work and office-based meetings to report metrics and coordinate with vendors, customers, and internal teams.Must haves:Type-A personality, with strong initiative and minimal supervision required.Ability to learn quickly, with one to two weeks of training provided (likely in Massachusetts).Some logistics experience, as the role involves tracking and managing assets throughout onboarding.Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to finding answers and addressing issues.Basic Qualifications:Associates degree OR High School Diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in Inventory ManagementAbility to travel as neededStrong data analytics and reporting skillsProject Management experienceDemonstrated experience and proficiency in use of SAP systems and MS Office Suite.General knowledge of lab instrumentsAbility to work both independently and in a team environment.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.Preferred:Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, SAP, SharePoint, and Spotfire.Background in an operational or logistics role, with exposure to tracking and coordination across multiple stakeholders.Good customer service skills and the ability to communicate with highly demanding, detail-oriented customers.Familiarity with working in high-stakes environments and dealing with multiple parties to ensure smooth asset onboarding.Working EnvironmentMust be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the timeThe person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations.
