IT Database Specialist

Job Summary:

Maintenance, configuration and implementation of the databases. This includes, backup, storage, access and partitioning of databases. Ensures efficient installations, configurations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of database systems. Monitor and optimize current database systems to ensure quality system performance, by utilizing index tuning, disk optimization, and various other methods that are appropriate. Confirms permissions and privileges within the system to define who can access and control what information ensuring safety and security of the databases to maintain the confidentiality of data.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

Clustering and breaking apart SQL DatabasesManage installation and configuration of SQL Server database, standalone and cluster platforms.Provide database server configuration and server requirementsCreate, enhance and coordinate migrations of database schema implementationsDesign, create, and test database backups and recovery strategies as requiredManage database projects for SQL Server platform upgrades and patchesDevelop strategic goals for production of databasesSupports database performance by monitoring database performance; evaluating and resolving processing problems; designing database management tools; managing and maintaining database maintenance schedulesSecures database(s) by preparing access and control, policies and procedures; implementing disaster recovery procedures.Design and build databases from determining business requirements.Perform data mining in SQL, Oracle , DB2 and , mySQL databasesManage data exporting and importing across databasePrepare database reports for managers as needed.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Exceptional knowledge of computer hardware, including servers, personal computers (PC's), point of sale (POS) terminals, printers, etc.Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic, audit, and support utilities, such as Spotlight, IDERA, and SolarWinds.Knowledge of reading, programming, and scripting of SQL databases.Knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.Knowledge of the organization's goals and objectives.Knowledge of supervisory procedures and practices.Skill with desktop and server operating systems, including all Windows Platforms.Application support skill with Microsoft Office.Technical skill designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting database servers.Skill with database tuning and troubleshooting.Skill with data processing flowcharting techniques.Project management skills.Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.Effective communication skills, including strong technical documentation skills.Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.Analytical and problem-solving ability.Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards and products.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, as well as, adapt to change of priorities quickly and efficiently.Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines.Ability to be flexible to meet the demands of the position.Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language to all levels of enterprise team.Ability to independently lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers, servers, and peripherals over 25 pounds.Ability to sit for extended periods of time.Ability to exhibit a high degree of hand and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and power tools as well as handle other computer components.Ability to adjust work schedule to meet work demands and enterprise goals.Ability to work in a smoking environment.Mandatory Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field AND two years job related database experience OR Associate's degree AND six years job related database experience.Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and creativity.Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed, as well as continuously serve on an on-call basis.Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.Must be able to obtain a valid gaming license.Preferred Requirements:

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in SQL 2005 or above and/or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDA) certificationExperience in the gaming or hospitality industry.
