Summary:The Financial Analyst provides financial support to the department leaders and principal investigators. This will include the development of budgets and financial analyses, maintenance of financial reports, as well as assisting Principal Investigators (PIs) in grant and contract proposals and post grant financial analysis. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Other information:Required Job Qualifications:• Bachelor's Degree with three years' experience.• Five years of experience in healthcare administration or finance.• Strong financial analysis.• Strong oral and written communication skills.• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and collaborate in the broad network of Rush University Medical Center (RUMC).• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and to work as part of a team.• Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines, possess strong work ethic, and attention to detail.• Ability to exercise judgment when dealing with confidential matters.• Business acumen and ability to think systemically and strategically.• Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Job Qualifications:• Epic Experience.• Experience in clinical, research, or health care field.

Responsibilities:1. Maintains and develops a standardized model and format for pricing all clinical research activities.2. Assists in the submission budgets. Identifies opportunities and recommends implementation of process changes to support greater efficiency and usefulness in the budget creation and tracking.3. Tracks monthly performance and financial data into an executive dashboard.4. Responsible for interpreting agreed upon coverage analyses into a research study budget.5. Serves as resource determining research price rates for clinical trial study budgets. Sets up study billing forms for research accounts with necessary departments.6. Develops federal and non-federal grant budgets as needed.7. Facilitates submission and completion of other financial study documents.8. Maintains and monitors study budget/contract expiration dates and initiate budget amendments accordingly.9. Performs accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks for study fund accounts (i.e. invoice sponsor for earned milestone payments, monitor sponsor payments, review, approve, and initiate payment for research study bills.).10. Monitor and formulate revenue earned for work performed on research studies.11. Perform monthly reconciliations of study financial accounts.12. Create various financial analyses reports as needed.13. Assists the staff in end-of-month reconciliation and collections processes.14. As directed, prepares journal entries and other expense allocation documentation as needed.15. As directed, may develop financial analyses to determine the impact of proposed revenue opportunities on department's financial outlook.16. Coordinates preparation and submission of financial reports and other paperwork.17. Tracks or coordinates the tracking of paperwork and maintenance of appropriate copies.18. Develops and maintains strong, collaborative working relationships with key contacts including Finance and Research Affairs.
