Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Software Engineer – SW CI/CD Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.
C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
As the Human Factors Engineering Lead, a successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing the HFE Program while working as a member of the User Interface software development team, recommending innovative solutions to existing and new problems, and ensuring that the requirements of the system are understood and implemented in a human-usable manner. Must know about Integrated Battle Management functions for Command and Control of Air and Missile Defense Systems. Must also be able to regularly act as a technical interface to current and future system operators on Human Machine Interface (HMI) issues and to MDA working-level counterparts. Support Warfighter Involvement activities, including planning and execution of Warfighter Round-Table meetings, participation in the C2BMC Regional Applications (RA) Agile Release Train (ART), liaison with C2BMC SEIT, and application of military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-1472 and MIL-STD-2525) to support the needs of the C2BMC end users. Participate in Missile Defense System ground and flight tests and other user-in-the-loop (such as military exercises or wargames) activities to assess the C2BMC component usability as part of the Missile Defense System.
Essential Functions:
Support systems engineering, event execution, and test and analysis activities as required to validate high-quality UI products
Responsibilities include:
Preparing test objectives
Reviewing event execution and analysis plans and procedures
Preparing data collection plans and materials
Executing testing of the C2BMC UI during system test execution
Understanding of Systems Engineering and Human Factors engineering practices and their application in DoD acquisition programs
Experience with UI development for military systems and acquiring and integrating feedback from military operational users (warfighters) for application to system development
Experience applying military standards and industry best practices to the development of user interfaces
Understanding of large-scale software development environments, software architecture, and systems engineering activities, and experience working in that type of environment
Travel both domestically and internationally in the conduct of Warfighter Involvement and usability assessment activities
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate technically and clearly across a broad audience spectrum, including high-level MDA, DoD, National Team staff, end users (Warfighters), and other C2BMC Stakeholders
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
Experience in developing and executing a Human Factors Engineering (HFE) Program based on MIL-STD-46855A guidelines with an emphasis on software-based User Interface (UI) designs, objectives, and user procedures is essential
Required capabilities:

Preparing and presenting results

Experience in requirements engineering:
Use case development

Experience participating in Missile Defense System verification and validation tests, and ability to independently and cooperatively develop test objectives, concepts, and architectures in the context of the Missile Defense System
Experience with Agile Development Methods, team leadership, task tracking, and issue resolution and coordination
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human Factors Engineering, or a related discipline with 8 years experience; or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Human Factors Engineering, or related discipline with 6 years experience.

Salary Range: $121,000 - $181,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
