Job Purpose

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer position will develop real-time low-level embedded software for power conversion systems and communications. This position will be responsible for designing and developing software for embedded control of inverters, DC-DC converters, and On-Board Charger for Canoo's electric vehicles.

Responsibilities (80s of the Position)

Design, develop, implement, debug and maintain embedded real-time software for power conversion ECUsDevelop code for control algorithms and communicationDevelop documentation and test plans for softwareInvestigate, debug and modify existing codeWork with HW engineers to test, debug and validate FW on benchDevelop standard and custom communication protocols for new systemsDevelop power electronics FW from concept to post-productionRequired Experience

BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering5+ years of embedded programming design experience for switched mode power convertersFluent in CAbility to code in AssemblyProficient with micro-controller IDE design/development toolsThorough understanding of software development practices and associated toolsExperience in real-time operating systemsUnderstanding of AC-DC and DC-DC operation and digital control loopsAbility to follow circuit schematics and PCB layout drawingsExperience in standard lab equipment such as power analyzer, oscilloscopes, frequency response analyzer to use for validating and debugging FWPreferred

Experience

MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical EngineeringExperience with ST 32-bit microcontroller platformsExperience developing device drivers, control systems, and communications protocolsExperience with CAN, SPI, I2C, RS-232, 802.11x, and TCP/IP protocolsAutomotive experienceGood understanding of design for manufacturing, quality control, and FMEATravel Requirements
