The Pastorate of St. John & St. Joseph, located in Frederick, Maryland, seeks candidates for an Administrative Assistant. The Office Administrative Assistant participates in a vital way to the mission of the parish. The AA will address all administrative needs, ensuring that work is done in an orderly and timely manner. This is a part-time position, working 19 hours a week over three (3) days, non-benefit eligible.
Essential Functions
Maintains a warm, welcoming, orderly atmosphere for parishioners and others who contact or visit the church.Responds to phone/emails/in-person requests by providing general information regarding Mass and Confession times, parish registration, faith formation programs, sacramental programs, events,Handles requests for Mass Cards and assists in maintaining a database for Mass IntentionsDistributes incoming mail for staffPrepares written and electronic correspondence as needed or requested; performs administrative and clerical duties for staffInput data in parish information systems when needed, e. parish registrations, funerals, weddings, ministry leaders/volunteers.Work with families scheduling baptisms, weddings, and funerals guiding them through the process and tracking requirementsPosition Qualifications
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.The ability to speak, read, and write clear English is required.Excellent customer service skills.Excellent discretion and judgment to serve all who seek assistance and to maintain appropriate confidentiality.Must be able to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers as well as effectively prioritize tasks and meet timelines.Computer competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher and ability to learn parish-specific database systems.General knowledge of the Catholic Church is preferred.Must model Christian attitudes and behaviors and adhere to the Archdiocesan Code of Conduct.Excellent attention to detail, good organizational and communication skills.
Range: $17.00/hourly
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
