Job Description Weeks Marine Dredging Division is offering paid internships for students majoring in engineering and construction. Interns will gain exposure to the fundamental activities performed within this industry. Provide needed assistance in the estimating and procurement process for large civil-works projects involving dredging and beach nourishment. Dredging involves projects such as federal shipping channels, refineries, and port authorities throughout the U.S. east and gulf coasts. Beach nourishment involves constructing beaches for the federal and state governments. Essential Job Functions Prepare project plans and specifications for estimators use. Assist estimators with bid preparation. Involves plan take-offs creating project spreadsheets. Track ongoing jobs and update project spreadsheets on a daily basis. Prepare a weekly project summary for each ongoing job. Submit and analyze "Freedom of Information Act" request for competitors past jobs. Assist field survey staff as needed. Update and maintain equipment inventory and tracking. Requirements • Successful candidates will have completed their sophomore year, preferably their junior year, in one of the following majors: Civil Engineering; Civil Engineering Technology; Construction Management; Electrical Engineering; Construction Technology; Mechanical Engineering; or Coastal Engineering. • Proficient in Microsoft Office • Experience with AutoCad a plus Physical Requirements • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, stoop and/or sit. • Light lifting (Up to 20 lbs) as needed Additional Duties This Job Description does not cover all of the required duties, activities, functions and responsibilities of the position, any of which may change at any time according to the sole and absolute discretion of Weeks Marine, Inc., with or without notice.
