Job Description Maintenance Planner - Kershaw, SC Basic Function and Overview:The Planner/Scheduler is expected to improve work force productivity and work quality through the planning and coordination of labor, parts, material, tools, equipment access, documentation, and work area access within the Maximo CMMS program. This person will also prepare a weekly schedule of work to execute for assigned craftsman and share it with production and maintenance supervision.Duties and Responsibilities:Create, for the use of the maintenance work group, complete and accurate planned work packages. Work packages will include estimated man-hour requirements, special skill requirements, drawings, manuals, special procedures, bills of material, kitted parts, special tools or equipment, permit and inspection requirements, safety evaluation, and pre-job safety checklist.As required, conduct a field check associated with the equipment in the work order to gain a complete understanding of the task involved enabling the Planner, from first-hand knowledge, to prepare an accurate job package.As appropriate, meet with Operations.Walk with Production or Maintenance Supervision to understand the scope of materials, Job Hazards, manpower, and specialty equipment needed to complete the work.Create detailed job plans for all of your planned jobs and save them in Maximo. Breakdown complex work requirements into individual and logical steps.Allocate time to major Job Plan steps in 15 minute intervals, or greater, andestablish time estimates that are reasonable and the minimum required to perform the work both safely and with precision, keeping quality and customer satisfaction as paramount.Identify the required materials from either onsite, or external suppliers. Have them kitted, then staged in the department before scheduled work begins.Working in conjunction with the Maintenance Superintendent, construct the fully completed daily, weekly and monthly schedules, as needed.Assist in supervising work in the field.Be able to fill in for Maintenance Superintendent when neededSchedule all planned work orders to 80% manpower loading and full utilization of all crafts, daily.External contractors need to be briefed, and specialty equipment needs to be staged properly before scheduled work.Weekly Work Order Prioritization and Scheduling meeting's with Production and Maintenance Supervision to pick work orders that are ready to be scheduled for the next week, and identify work to be scheduled 2 to 3 weeks out.The complete and final weekly schedule will be delivered to the appropriate Production and Maintenance Supervision, prior to Friday and considered unchangeable in any fashion.Openly welcome constructive feedback from the Technicians and take action upon the recommendations as appropriate in a timely manner.Understands their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts and ensures all activities conform to good manufacturing practicesAbility to self-manage in the performance of duties.Ability to assess and assign appropriate skill level to tasks so as to provide the most cost effective service.Working to benefit the teamResponsible for utilizing the Continuous Improvement process including root cause analysis. AccountabilityThe following individual measures for success are the responsibility of each planner:Target desired Ratio of Work Orders placed on the Schedule that are fully planned as a percent of all work ordersFully Planned Work Orders in the Job BacklogComparisons of estimated work order cost versus actual work order costsScheduling delays that result from the following planner attributesJob Plan/Package - Not ClearParts omitted from the work order bill of materialsMinimum QualificationsWorking knowledge of trades classifications and functions including tools and materials, and task specific sequencing required for maintenance and repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.Prior use and interpretation of maintenance or facility maintenance contracts and vendor contracts applicable to job task assignments.Use of safety measures and the understanding of OSHA regulations for construction and trade work.Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.Demonstrated proficient use of various computer programs.Experience with interpreting blueprints, diagrams and manuals.Accurate and acute written and oral communications skillsAbility to coach and mentor peers, and to share among peers newly found or developed skills, techniques and improvements.Excited about this role but don't meet every requirement listed?
