Job Summary:
The Sr Network Engineer Provides support for a network infrastructure and VMware implementation deployed in multiple data center locations. Responsible for continuity planning, implementation, and analysis. The employee will perform various roles including research and design, testing, implementation, physical systems installation, configuration, and network monitoring.
Viable candidates must be willing to work onsite at GSI's headquarters in Palm Harbor, Florida three (3) days per week.
Key Responsibilities:Develop KPI's and monitor network performanceActively participate in network and/or system incident investigationsCollaborate with other Operations and Security teams to optimize system performanceDesign, develop, implement, and maintain network infrastructureDesign and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)Monitor network performance and integrityConduct network modeling and analysis to ensure a reliable, high-performance integrated networkSelect, recommend, and install appropriate data communications components configured to meet the company's needsDesign, recommend and implement new solutions to improve the resilience and disaster recovery capability of network operationsDefine, document, and enforce system standardsSecure network systems with policies that define and monitor accessPerform initial setup, configuration and implementation of system routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, load balancers and other network hardware.Manage IP addressing schemeConfigure DNS serversAssist security team in managing security eventsSchedule updates and upgrades to networking equipmentAssist in network vendor managementCover NOC team member shifts as necessaryRequirements
Work Experience / Knowledge:
Expert knowledge of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and other routing protocolsLAN/WAN, wireless and wired networks including servers, routers, switches, gateways, and related hardware/appliancesExpert knowledge managing MPLS networksExpert in SolarWinds, or similar network monitoring systemExpert with firewall and load balancing technologiesExpert ability to diagnose and investigate network problems:Performing intense troubleshooting, including ability to monitor, intercept, and decode data as it is in transitUse of network sniffers (e.g. Wireshark Packet Sniffer) for protocol analysesDetermination of root cause analysesExpert in WAN and LAN design and architectureAbility to lead complex network related projectsHighly proficient in Cisco ASA firewalls, routers and wireless LAN controllersHighly proficient F5 load balancersHighly proficient Cisco UCS server infrastructureSecurity administration and platform hardening.Flowcharting and network diagramming (Visio, etc.)Windows Server administration and Active DirectoryMS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VisioQualifications / Certifications:
A degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Systems, or a related field is highly desired or relevant in-job experiencePrevious hands-on experience as a network engineer or network administrator is preferredOne or more of the following certifications are required for consideration:Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)CompTIA Network+Special Requirements:
