The Staff Accountant prepares, reconciles, and reviews financial documents, reports, and statements. Supports month and year-end financial close. Reconciles cash receipts and multiple bank accounts. Applies accounts receivable payments. Works with various ASHP departments and customers to research and resolve open accounts receivable balances.This position will be based onsite in our Bethesda, MD office, and the employee in this role will be working in a hybrid environment, consistent with Association-wide ASHP policies applicable to HQ-based employees. At ASHP, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. The base salary for this position is $68,000-$73,000 and ASHP offers a comprehensive benefits plan. Prepares journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations for month/year-end close

Completes multiple bank reconciliationsAssists with processing customers' payments and account inquiriesPrepares daily operating cash receipt reconciliationMonitors AR accounts and assists in sending customer invoices as neededReviews and verifies customer credit termsResearch and recommend treatment of customer credit balancesGenerates miscellaneous invoices and submits through customer portals as neededResearch and recommend treatment of stale dated checksAdd approved general ledger accounts into AMS and financial systemPrepares audit schedules for annual financial auditPerforms other duties as assignedWhat You Bring to ASHP

Bachelor's Degree in AccountingExperience or knowledge of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Exceptional technical accounting skillsSound judgmentExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsPersonal credibilityHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detailEager to learn and be part of a high-functioning teamProficiency in leading accounting software packages (ex. Sage Intacct, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Great Plains)Highly competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and OutlookExperience in other business software packages such as Concur, Nexus, and Personify a plus but not requiredNonprofit organization experience a plus but not required
