As a Tax Manager, you will provide support for the tax department operations. You will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of income tax compliance and controversy, tax reporting, legislative support, and departmental budgeting. Serve as a tax liaison with other UR departments and support operating branches with tax related inquiries.
What you'll do:Coordinate income tax compliance process.Develop, maintain and update a comprehensive tax calendar for all tax-related deadlines.Identify new filing responsibilities.Track and monitor upcoming filing and payment deadlines and proactively communicate with internal stakeholders.Submit income tax vouchers and coordinate payment of tax liabilities, including coordination with Treasury.Preparation of tax credit calculations and supporting documentation within OneSource tax system.
Coordinate federal, state and local audit reviews.Prepare preliminary audit response templates.Compile supporting documentation for audit requests.Coordinate and track applicable statute waivers.Coordinate budgetary requirements for audits requiring assistance from external tax advisors.
Partner on the tax provision process.Prepare account analysis reconciliation schedules to assist with quarterly and year-end tax provision process.Coordinate budgetary requirements for external tax advisors providing assistance with tax provision process.Support Director, Tax Reporting and Planning with documentation of tax workpapers.
Liaise with rental location teams and other Corporate Departments.Answer questions, provide tax forms, and prepare other documentation, as needed.Support business combination activities including updating legal entity documentation.Research vendor offsets of customer payments and/or route to appropriate department for resolution at the request of Credit, Government Sales, Branch, etc. and retain log of offsets.Ensure UR intranet has the most up-to-date information posted for Tax.
Work with VP, Tax and Real Estate to develop and maintain departmental budget.Coordinate and compile departmental budget with input from other tax department staff.Process invoices and establish new vendors.Track professional fees and manage agreements.Recommend to management appropriate actions to take in order to resolve issues.
Work with Director, Government Affairs to support legislative efforts.Coordinate with HR, FP&A, Payroll, Fleet and other departments on a quarterly basis to assess and summarize state tax impacts.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred5+ years' working in a corporate tax department, accounting or law firmBroad corporate tax and OneSource experience preferredStrong computer skills (Excel and Word)Excellent written/verbal communication and analytical skillsStrong partnership skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasksWorking knowledge of business processes related to accounting systems and sales taxStrong knowledge and understanding of accounting for sales taxesSelf motivated, sense of urgency and drive to produce resultsHigh level of commitment and the ability to create solutions to unique challengesStamford CT - Hybrid ScheduleWhy join us?
