The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounts payable, expense and invoice tracking, assisting with daily accounting processes, and month-end close procedures. This role ensures the integrity of accounting information and provides financial support across all departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain accurate financial records by properly recording, filing, and reporting all financial transactions through the accounts payable subledger. Process vendor transactions in the company's accounting system, ensuring proper coding, approval routing, and accurate payment processing via check or ACH. Maintain vendor records up to date including accurate contact and payment information. Reconciles company credit card transactions on a monthly basis ensuring proper GL coding. Maintain W-9 forms and manage 1099 filing process at year-end. Support the month-end and year-end close process by assisting with balance sheet account reconciliations including accruals. Assist with external audit requests by providing necessary documentation and information. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Assist the team with special projects or tasks as needed. Serve as backup for various accounting functions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is not a supervisory position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting or a related field. Advanced proficiency with Excel required. Knowledge of US GAAP, auditing, and accounting principles, standards, and practices. Experience with accounting software and financial systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge or experience with agencies involved in homelessness, childcare, and funding social services preferred. Must possess outstanding critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze and interpret data. Ability to work quickly and accurately processing large volumes of data. Ability to be mission-focused, empathetic, sincere, assertive, and confident. Ability to be professional, flexible, respectful, and calm. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Effective time management skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
