Job Summary
This position operates under the general direction of the Director of Infrastructure Technology and has primary responsibility for the design, execution of development, operations, maintenance, and protection of campus network resources for a multi-campus environment. This position assists in the architectural strategic and tactical planning of the University information technology infrastructure. Functions as a technical lead for network services to the entire University.
ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor technical staff to design, plan, deploy, maintain, and support critical enterprise network services, including multi-campus network core routing/switching, wired, wireless, and cloud architecturesOversee design and deployment of wired and wireless infrastructure and network-related responsibilities for renovation and construction projectsConduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network development effortsAdvise the Director and other ITS management on the Development and revision of policies, procedures, and operating guidelines for the standardization, maintenance, protection, and optimization of our central networking systemsResponsible for the development and execution of architecting and engineering best practicesDocument the core networking architecture and all supporting systems and applicationsCollect and analyze network performance monitoring dataIdentify and implement emerging technologies in collaboration with university constituentsRequired Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or closely related fieldRequired Experience
Five (5) or more years of related work experience in an enterprise networking environment In-depth and substantive knowledge of and experience in networking and telecommunications infrastructure and related applicationsWorking knowledge of Active Directory environmentsExperience leading network operations activities, including the development of roadmaps, complex problem diagnosis and resolution, and enterprise-level project implementationsPreferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Network related certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA and CCNP certificationsPreferred Experience
Eight (8) or more years of work experience managing an enterprise networking environment Familiarity with Virtualization, DevOps methodologies and Automation toolsExperience managing an Enterprise Wireless controller-based environment Experience managing Enterprise Firewalls (i.e., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA)Experience managing Enterprise Switching and Routing infrastructure (i.e., Cisco, Juniper, HP)Experience managing Enterprise DNS and DHCP appliances (i.e., Infoblox, BlueCat)Proven knowledge of network design and engineering.
