Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient's chest. Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care. In The Community Beyond care inside the hospital, Dominican is dedicated to the health and wellness of the Santa Cruz community. Community programs include a Mobile Wellness Clinic, a tattoo removal program, and support groups for patients and new mothers. Responsibilities The Charge Nurse serves the clinical leader for the department modeling clinical excellence and acting as a resource for nursing staff. Functions as a part of a team designed to plan organize and control the health care process for applicable patient populations on assigned shifts. Assists with the unit level oversight of assigned clinical processes for shift by shift operations. Continually assists with achieving patient satisfaction productivity and operational objectives. The Charge Nurse coordinates unit responsibilities and assigns duties to unit staff. Reports directly to the Department Nursing Leadership. Qualifications Requirements: 1-2 years recent experience in relevant clinical area One (1) year medical/surgical ICU experience or equivalent critical care experience ASN or Nursing Diploma required Current and active CA RN license Current BLS certification required Current ACLS certification required Current NIH Stroke certification required Current CCRN within 1 year of obtaining position Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Preferred: 3-5 years of Relief or Charge Nurse role One (1) year CVICU experience One (1) year neuroscience ICU experience Bachelor's Degree preferred Proficient in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring IABP Impella ECMO CRRT training preferred
