Founded in 1982, Mission Action, formerly known as Dolores Street Community Services (DSCS), is a multi-issue, multi-strategy nonprofit organization, with almost 150 employees and an annual budget of $14.5 million, based in San Francisco's Mission District. Our mission is to nurture individual wellness and cultivate collective power among low-income and immigrant communities to create a more just society. We provide direct services to meet immediate needs, as well as affect broader change by engaging in advocacy and community organizing, working on a wide range of issues-from homelessness, to housing, to immigration, to employment. We believe deeply that these issues are interconnected, and that they must be addressed in solidarity to create a more just society.

Position Description:

The Community Services program currently includes four sets of programs: Access Point, Little Market food distribution, and Case Management. This position has the objective of assisting in researching and organizing funding opportunities and processing administrative tasks such as data management for the programs in the Community Services.

Key Responsibilities:

Work in collaboration with program managers, coordinators and directors of Community Services.

Follow a work plan and develop professional skills.

Maintain organizational and administrative tools: calendars, reminders, databases, archives, etc.

Research funding opportunities and support the drafting of proposals.

Assist in data entry and reporting for contract management and client data into Grant Management System.

Grant management and reporting for multiple grants including: processing and tracking invoices for subcontractors, compiling narrative reports, etc.

Track and compile reports for services rendered by subcontractors.

Translating notes from English to Spanish and vice versa.

Logistics and communications, including sending email reminders, logistical set up of calls and meetings, securing interpretation services, etc.

Other Organizational Duties:

Conduct business in accordance with the Mission Action Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the agency and the community.

Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bilingual in spoken and written Spanish, REQUIRED

Background in and passion for working with low-income and immigrant communities around issues of affordable housing, land use, and/or immigrant & worker rights; familiarity with these issues in the Mission District and San Francisco, highly desired.

Strong commitment to serving low-income and underserved communities, with an ability to relate to and communicate with a broad range of clients and colleagues.

Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including multiple-diagnosed low-income populations, people who are marginally housed, LGBTQ individuals, people of color and persons with disabilities.

Commitment to social justice issues, and familiarity with Mission Action's mission and organizational work.

Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work, required.

Must be well organized, efficient, highly motivated, and able to handle multiple tasks at once, work well under pressure, and take initiative.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient computer knowledge, ability to use Windows and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), as well as proficiency with the internet.
