Job DescriptionThe Assessment Program Director, an integral member of the University of Notre Dame’s teaching and learning enterprise, leads the design, coordination, implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives to drive effective assessment of student learning outcomes. The Program Director’s Responsibilities include the following:The Assessment Program Director, in partnership with the Provost’s Office, colleges and schools, University committees including the Core Curriculum Committee, Office of the Registrar, and Institutional Research, Innovation, and Strategy ( IRIS ), facilitates the design and implementation of assessment activities to examine a wide range of academic programs, educational initiatives, pedagogies, and curricula to further the understanding of how those efforts contribute to student learning.The principal Kaneb Center partner to the Provost’s Office for assessment related to institutional, college-level, and program-based accreditation, the Assessment Program Director contributes to projects, self-studies, site visits, and other activities as needed.The Assessment Program Director provides input on strategy and priorities for the assessment of educational efforts at Notre Dame, translates that strategy into short- and long-term action plans, and completes or coordinates the resulting data collection procedures, analyses, and reporting. In so doing, the director ensures that Notre Dame’s assessment enterprise makes use of best practices common to top research and teaching universities, including direct and indirect forms of assessment.The Assessment Program Director designs and leads Kaneb Center workshops in the areas of assessment and evaluation of teaching and learning. The person in this role develops and implements consultation services to support faculty members to effectively access and interpret course- and department-based data and learning analytics on student learning.The Assessment Program Director leads the assessment, evaluation, and reporting of Notre Dame Learning programs and services.The successful candidate will possess a proven track record as an administrator, a strong appreciation of the faculty role in a research university, and the ability to gain the confidence of faculty members and administrators to catalyze support and enthusiasm for advancing the educational mission of the University. She/he will have a proven track record in quantitative data analysis and/or knowledge of statistical applications.

Minimum QualificationsM.A. or M.S. with strong methodological training in research/statistics and qualitative analysis; 5-7 years of experience in assessment, evaluation, educational research or educational measurement in a university or professional setting.Demonstrated facility in both quantitative and qualitative methods.Significant experience in program development, implementation and management.Demonstrated ability to convene and lead productive meetings and/or workshops.Effective diplomatic skills with an aptitude for and interest in building and sustaining strong partnerships with academic leaders and stakeholders.Proven ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators in an appropriate, timely and accurate manner.Professional fluency and ongoing engagement with issues and trends in higher education.Ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated attention to detail.Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. with strong methodological training in research/statistics and qualitative analysisExperience leading organizational change.Experience working in a teaching or student success center, and/or leading consultations and workshops for faculty and instructors.Knowledge of data visualization techniques, statistical programs.Special Instructions to Applicants
