Our cross-functional team focuses on designing, developing, and launching innovative ad experiences delivered to shoppers in conversational contexts. We utilize leading-edge engineering and science technologies in generative AI to help shoppers discover new products and brands through intuitive, conversational, multi-turn interfaces. We also empower advertisers to reach shoppers, using their own voice to explain and demonstrate how their products meet shoppers' needs. We collaborate with various teams across multiple Amazon organizations to push the boundary of what's possible in these fields.As an Applied Scientist on our team, you will be working with talented scientists, engineers, and technical program managers to innovate on behalf of our customers. An ideal candidate is able to navigate through ambiguous requirements and has experience in Natural Language Processing, Ads recommendation systems, information/evidence retrieval, and/or LLM prompt engineering. Serve as the Science lead in defining the Science charter for the team (for an entirely new space using LLMs) & leading other AS on the teamBuild POCs, experiment, optimize and deploy models into productionPartner with other Science teams within the org to deliver features for a net new shopper experienceRun experiments/weblabs and be able to perform statistical analysisMentor other scientists on the teamPartnering with Principal PMT and SDM to influence the Product strategyBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of building models for business application experiencePhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experienceExperience programming in Java, C++, Python or related languageExperience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computingPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
