THE OPPORTUNITY
KFA is seeking a resourceful and ambitious Project Engineer to steer our most impactful municipal drainage and stormwater projects across Central Texas. This role is designed for a candidate with a solid history of achievements within the public sector, particularly with the City of Austin and adjacent communities.
The primary responsibilities of the Project Engineer include:
Lead design for pivotal projects from neighborhood flood studies to storm drainage and channel improvements, directly contributing to community safety and environmental sustainability.
Utilize your expertise to navigate project challenges and develop innovative solutions.
Mentor and direct junior engineers in complex technical work, ensuring the delivery of high-quality plans, specifications, and reports.
Requirements:
Texas PE License or ability to obtain a Texas PE license within 6 months of hire
Bachelors or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
At least 5 years of experience in municipal drainage projects covering all project phases
Excellent communication skills, essential for team collaboration and stakeholder engagement
Proficiency with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and either MicroStation or Civil 3D
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced modeling software such as SWMM, HEC-RAS 2D, InfoWorks ICM
TCEQ water quality design experience
GIS experience
Experience with FEMA modeling and mapping
Experience with channel design and stream bank stabilization
Certified Floodplain Manager
