You’ll get to work on projects that are fast-paced, challenging, and varied. You’ll also be able to experiment with new possibilities, take risks, and collaborate with remarkable people.Our Prime Video Content Understanding team builds holistic media representations (e.g. descriptions of scenes, semantic embeddings) and applies them to new customer experience supply chain problems. Our technology spans the entire Prime Video catalogue globally, enabling instant recaps, skip intro timing, ad placement, search, and content moderation.As a Sr. Applied Scientist in our Content Understanding Team, you will lead the end-to-end research and deployment of multi-modal models applied to a variety of downstream applications. We are seeking a science leader with deep knowledge of multi-modal content understanding, including Vision Language Models (VLMs) and Multi-Modal Language Models (MMLMs). The Sr. AS will establish scientific research directions, best practices, and frameworks to be leveraged across multiple teams. You will help drive the alignment of Engineering roadmaps to support scientific capabilities, and you will be a voice of future technology for our Product partners.Key Job Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:Defining vision & technical strategy:
Collaborate with other leaders in Prime Video to define the long-term problems we will solve to serve customers. Formulate our science and engineering strategy for achieving this vision.Execution:
Bring the strategy to life by directly delivering key components of our science and research roadmap and acting as a force-multiplier for other scientists in the team.Developing Others:
Mentor and coach junior scientists in the team, drive scientific and technical best practices for others, and elevate the quality of the output produced by the entire team.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experiencePhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experienceExperience programming in Java, C++, Python or related languageExperience with neural deep learning methods and machine learningPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
