The Department of Physics at Brandeis University invites applications for the position of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in Physics. This is a teaching-focused position and will involve teaching two physics courses each semester as well as mentoring undergraduate students, developing new pedagogical materials and methods, and participating in committee activities (a five-course load per year). Preference will be given to candidates who can teach a wide range of physics courses, possibly utilizing active learning and evidence-based approaches, and have demonstrated an interest in physics education as a career. We are looking for a person who can inspire and motivate students and is dedicated to enhancing the undergraduate experience. The position is expected to start in Fall 2025. A Ph.D. in Physics or related fields is required.We are a vibrant department with research interests in a broad range of fields and a strong commitment towards undergraduate education. The position, in addition to course duties and dependent on candidate interests, provides opportunities to develop new pedagogical techniques in collaboration with the Center for Teaching and Learning, to collaborate across STEM departments on undergraduate teaching and DEI initiatives and/or engage in research on Physics teaching. It will also provide opportunities for research in a variety of Physics subfields that involve undergraduate students.Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lectures;Develop assessments that enhance classroom learning goals;Be available to answer student questions outside of class;Effectively manage assigned Teaching Assistants in handling work associated with the courses;Assist with advising and mentoring undergraduate students;Participate in departmental, Division of Science, and university committees focused on undergraduate education.At Brandeis, we believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential components of academic excellence.
