Job Description:

Perform management oversight of construction activity on behalf of the client, report on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance on multiple projects sites.

Monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements that relate to the specific construction projects.

Perform daily safety reviews of work in progress in accordance with current Safety Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as developed and updated by BuildLACCD.

Monitor adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements and procedures.

Support to the Program Safety Manager, including but not limited to, attending any required meetings, or providing safety reports/analysis as requested.

Attend construction meeting with college project team and general contractor. Leading the safety topic (toolbox), report on site observations (Observation Report) and review upcoming construction schedule for hazard preparedness.

Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate daily safety report for all site visits.

Submit weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Report to College Project Manager.

Perform ongoing review, for completion and accuracy, of contractor safety submittals, JHA, MOP, Fall Protection Plans, Crane Lift Plans, Excavation and Scaffold Erecting Plans, Confined Space Entry and hazard assessment of other high risk operations.

Perform review of contractor submitted incident reports, participate in safety stand-downs, and prepare and submit lessons learned to Program Safety Manager.

Perform and document safety orientation with contractor safety representative.

Monitor adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policy for workers found not in compliance with the Program’s safety policy.

Flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites based on assigned schedule and duties throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

Ability to work in fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years of continuous experience in commercial construction

Minimum 5 years of managing multiple projects in different stages of construction at multiple jobsite locations

Minimum 5 years field experience as Construction Safety Consultant working with General Contractors and Subcontractors

Experience working with OCIP

Minimum of 2 years experience in construction of educational projects in a campus environment.

Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER - (include copy of certificate in resume package)

Current OSHA 500 (Trainer in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry) - (include copy of certificate in resume package)

Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification - (include copy of certificate in resume package)

Minimum of holding a valid Safety Management Specialist (SMS) certificate or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or Certified Safety Manager Construction (CSMC) certificate issued by the National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP) - (include copy of certificate in resume package)

Experience on modernization-type projects involving abatement, remediation and other hazardous waste material removal such as asbestos and lead-based paint

Extensive knowledge and experience with senior safety management with large building programs across multiple sites

Experience participating in scheduled construction progress meetings

Strong experience in incident and daily construction reporting

Ability to effectively communicate with owners construction management staff and contractor’s site Management Team

Ability to manage, control and accurately report in a timely manner all safety incidents

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

Construction management, safety management, safety engineer or related degree is preferred

Additional safety/health certifications and credentials as appropriate for this position

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000.
