We are looking for an Associate Technical Director to join our Energy team in Houston, Texas. This group focuses on the production of hydrogen, biogenic or captured carbon technologies, green fuels (such as e-methanol, e-ammonia and Sustainable Aviation Fuel), and thermal power solutions like district energy heating as well as biomass gasification.As an Associate Technical Director, you would be expected to provide high-level, senior technical expertise to projects and develop and implement professional networks (also named communities) to improve the Company's engineering practices. This includes establishing best practices. The Associate Technical Director also contributes to the identification, recruitment, and development of technical talent for the Company. The Associate Technical Director is expected to provide leadership to projects and actively contribute to developing business for the Green Fuels and CCUS sector in North America. The Associate Technical Director will lead strategic initiatives as delegated and be an ambassador of COWI's values.Your key responsibilities will be to:In relation to business development activities, you will work closely with Market Director(s) and assist in following up on leads, preparing proposals, and representing COWI in technical seminars and conferences.Mentor other COWI technical staff and Subject Matter Experts.Establish and steer the COWI professional communities (network) within your overall disciplines.Lead the internal dissemination of technical knowledge and tools development through presentations and Technical Notes.Contribute to internal project concept development and reviews and capture lessons learned across the business in NA.Establish required training for staff and liaise with Head of Discipline (HoD) and Market Director for Green Fuels and CCUS.Define the relevant technical skills expected of staff and liaise with HoD.Technical papers and attendance at industry conferences (client-facing and technical).Participation in technical communities for the development of industry specifications, design specifications, and best practices.Your skills. Furthermore, you are expected to be a recognized technical leader in our markets and industry and to succeed in this position, we believe that you should have the ability to work with the staff located remotely and work across regions in North America and business units.On top of that, you will have:Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering and Professional Engineer status in Texas.Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in engineering design of large-scale chemical/fuels energy projects (Hydrogen, Ammonia, Methanol, LNG, Refining).Work experience with reputed OEMs relevant to Green Fuels production will be an added advantage.Demonstrated and recognized technical leader in the industry.Participation in National and International professional societies.Demonstrated ability to train and mentor others in your discipline.Comprehensive written and oral communication skills.Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Effective team building skills, solid leadership skills, and able to manage multiple stakeholders.Ability and willingness to travel, predominantly in North America.A place to work and so much moreAt COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world.
